10th Annual Take A Walk On The Wild Side Nature Hike

FreeCelebrate the beauty of nature at the 10th Annual St. Albans WV City Park “Take A Walk On The Wild Side Nature Hikes” on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 9:00 am to Noon.
This engaging, free event invites families to immerse themselves in the wonders of the natural world, exploring the theme “Wild And Wonderful Nature” through various activities and exhibits designed to enlighten and entertain participants of all ages.
This year, we’re focusing on “All Things Nature,” with a special emphasis on wildlife, birds, wildflowers, the environment, forestry, agriculture, and weather. The WV Division of Natural Resources Wildlife Division will present fascinating insights into local wildlife. Our special program “Wings of Wonder: WV Birds of Prey,” presented by The Three Rivers Avian Center, featuring live owls, hawks, falcons, and Bald Eagle-Regis.
The WV Division of Environmental Protection, WV Division of Forestry, and other notable organizations will provide educational exhibits and activities that promise to enrich your understanding and appreciation of our natural surroundings.
ACTIVITIES/ EXHIBITS INCLUDE:
• Self-guided hikes with leadership along the trail
• Paint A Critter
• WV DEP activities
• Forestry Activities
• Face Painting and Sidewalk Chalk
• Obstacle Course
• Story Walk
• Fire Safety with St. Albans Fire Department
• Rain Barrels/Stormwater information with the St. Albans Stormwater Department
• Patriot Guardens Display (Guardens is correct-it is the name of the program through the WV NG.
• Reptile Display
• WV Division of Wildlife Skins, Skulls and Critters
Registration for the Take A Walk On The Wild Side Nature Hike event will be open from 9 am to 11:30 am on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Foundations Church of God will provide delicious food, setting up Saturday morning to ensure participants have tasty treats to enjoy.
Volunteers and leaders from organizations such as WV Master Naturalists, WV Native Plant Society, WV Division of Forestry, WV Birders, WV Master Gardeners, and WV DEP will be on hand to guide, educate, and engage with attendees, making this a truly community-driven event.
