Location: St. Albans City Park Nature Trail and lower park area
Admission: FREE (Donations appreciated)

Step back in time and explore the natural and historical wonders of St. Albans at the 11th Annual Walk on the Wild Side Nature Hike! This year’s theme, “Nature’s Pioneers,” celebrates the early settlers of the Kanawha Valley and their deep connection to the land, rivers, and resources that shaped the region.

This family-friendly event invites participants of all ages to enjoy guided nature hikes, interactive displays, and hands-on activities showcasing pioneer skills. Learn about wild food gathering, natural remedies, salt making, timbering, and maple syrup production through live demonstrations. Engage with historical reenactors, Civil War artillery displays, and even a moonshining exhibit!

📌 Event Highlights:

  • Live Demonstrations – Experience traditional pioneer skills, including glass blowing by Blenko Glass.
  • Historical Insights – Learn from the St. Albans Historical Society, C&O Railroad historians, and the Coal River Group.
  • Hands-on Fun – Participate in make-it-and-take-it crafts, interactive displays, and educational activities for kids and adults.
  • Music & More – Enjoy old-time music performances and storytelling from local experts.
  • Food & Souvenirs – Grab a bite from the Foundations Church of God and purchase commemorative Blenko Glass suncatchers and event T-shirts.
