St. Albans City Park is a great place for people of all ages to enjoy the outdoors and have fun during their leisure time, whether they want to take in some fresh air on the park’s hiking trails or get competitive with friends at disk golfing. Young children can play safely around playgrounds and shelters while teens might find themselves more interested in playing baseball with other budding athletes under one of St. Albans’ many well-maintained fields!

    There is so much to do at St. Albans City Park! It’s the perfect outdoor space to relax and have some fun in this Almost Heaven town of St. Albans, West Virginia. Visitors will find the park well-equipped with picnic shelters, a swimming pool, playground equipment, hiking and biking trails, baseball/softball fields, a dog park, and a disc golf course. A trip to City Park in St. Albans is a must for those searching for fun, outdoor recreation year-round.

    Picnic Shelters

    The park has four covered picnic shelters, which may be reserved for group picnics or other large gatherings. Many shelters are equipped with electrical outlets and grills. Shelters are available for reservations on a first-come, first-serve basis.

    Swimming Pool

    St. Alban’s City Park also offers a full-service swimming pool complex with slides, a diving board, and a splash pad! Yearly and single-day pool passes are available for purchase and required to use the facility.

    Pool Hours

    The pool at St. Albans City Park is open daily during the summer months typically starting Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, weather permitting.

    Swimming Activities & Programs

    Classes and programs are offered at the swimming pool ranging from swimming lessons to competitive swimming teams.

    Playground Equipment

    The playground equipment at St. Albans City Park is an excellent place for kids to play. It has various equipment, including a slide, swings, and monkey bars, and more.

    Hiking & Biking Trails

    The park has multiple hiking trails that wind through the wooded areas. These make for a great nature walk and are perfect for getting some exercise. Our trails have varying surfaces and difficulty levels. Our hiking and biking trails offer a scenic view as they meander along our serene and quiet wooded areas.

    St. Albans has a number of hiking and biking trails that vary in skill and elevation levels.  

    St. Albans City Park Loop Trail

    Check out this 2.3-mile loop trail near Saint Albans, West Virginia. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 56 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking and trail running.

    St. Albans Nature Trail

    Try this 0.4-mile loop trail near Saint Albans, West Virginia. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 10 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking and walking.

    Coleman Field Baseball and Softball Fields at St. Albans City Park, St. Albans, WV

    Baseball/Softball Fields

    There are two baseball/softball fields at the park, which are great for league play and are often used for both traveling and local tournaments. It is a great place to come watch a ballgame with your family and friends. Concessions and food sales may be available during league and tournament play.

    Reservations are required to use the field by sports teams, tournaments, and athletic organizations.

    Butterfly Garden & Monarch Waystation

    Butterfly Garden & Monarch Waystation

    St. Albans City Park’s Butterfly Garden & Monarch Waystation is one stop on a long journey south for the Monarch butterfly. Thanks to the hard work of local volunteers, middle school students and their teachers, and the City of St. Albans, this garden is a beautiful place for Monarch butterflies to rest and refuel as they make their way to Mexico.

    Dog Park

    St. Albans City Park has a dog park where dogs can run and play off-leash in a safe, enclosed area. It’s the perfect place for a dog to get some exercise. Your pups can hit the park daily from dawn to dusk and is located at the top of the first hill, just beyond Shelter 2. No reservations are required for the dog park.

    Disc Golf Course

    The park has a disc golf course which is a great way to spend an afternoon. The course winds through the woods and offers a challenging 18 holes, and is a perfect outing for those who love the sport.

    The park has handicap-accessible restrooms located within the park.

    Seasonal Events to Enjoy Year-round

    St. Albans City Park plays host to many seasonal events, including the St. Albans Festival of Lights, the Haunted Trail, and Take a Walk on the Wild Side Nature Hike, a well-known nature and conservatory event.

    Driving Directions to St. Albans City Park

    From Kanawha Terrace in St. Albans, turn onto Vine Street. Follow Vine Street for 0.2mi, then turn Right onto Valley Pike / Observatory Drive. Drive 0.2mi towards the entrance sign to enter the park. Our address is 931 Observatory Drive, St. Albans, WV 25177.
